Medical device manufacturing often requires precision cleaning and surface treatment to remove machining contamination and prepare the device surface for further fabrication. Seacole offers a broad line of aqueous and solvent based chemistry to remove oils and other soils. Once clean, the surface can be plated or passivated using chemistry also supplied by Seacole.
There are many types of ancillary chemical products that medical device customers provide alongside their products. Canister wipes, equipment cleaners and packaged lubricants are a few examples of items that Seacole can produce, package and private label for customers with their branding.

Metal Passivation/Plating
Passivation is the intentional removal of iron from the stainless steel surface and there are different passivation types. Removal of surface iron and iron contamination results in a stainless steel surface that is low in iron and high in chromium. With more chromium at the surface a thicker chromium oxide layer can be achieved, which results in significantly improved corrosion resistance due to lack of iron available to react with the environment.
- CitriSurf 2250 is a high quality blend of chemicals formulated for the cleaning and passivation of stainless steel products. CitriSurf 2250 is specifically designed to provide low cost and efficient removal of contaminants and all free iron from the surface of most grades of stainless steel, including austenitic, ferritic, martensitic, precipitation hardening, and duplex, providing the highest chrome oxide levels possible.
- Dynafin 5504 is a liquid product used full strength to polish and passivate stainless steel. It's ready to be used as received. Dynafin 5504 is effective on 300 and 400 stainless steel, passivates, polishes, and removes scale and burrs.
